If you’re craving some fresh air and outdoor adventure, Mammoth Cave National Park is a must-see. Located about a 3-hour drive south of Cincinnati, Mammoth Cave is the longest cave system in the world. You can take guided tours through its labyrinth of passageways and underground rooms.
Above ground, the park offers hiking, biking, and canoeing along the Green River. For nature lovers, it’s an opportunity to experience some of Kentucky’s most beautiful scenery. Whether you’re an experienced caver or just looking to explore the outdoors, Mammoth Cave will impress.

Indianapolis is an often-overlooked spring break destination that has plenty to offer. About 2 hours away from Cincinnati, Indy is home to the world-famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Indianapolis 500. Even if you’re not a racing fan, the Indy 500 Museum is an excellent stop.
For something more family-friendly, the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is one of the largest and most interactive museums in the world, perfect for younger visitors. Don’t forget to explore the Newfields, take a stroll through the White River State Park, or enjoy a day at the Indianapolis Zoo. With its laid-back vibe, Indianapolis is a perfect blend of culture and fun.

Looking to hit the beach for spring break? Head south to Gulf Shores, Alabama. A roughly 12-hour drive from Cincinnati, Gulf Shores is home to pristine white sand beaches and crystal-clear waters that are perfect for lounging, swimming, or enjoying water sports.
The area is also known for its incredible seafood, so be sure to sample some local dishes. Besides beach activities, Gulf Shores also offers opportunities for hiking, golfing, and visiting the nearby Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge. It’s a relaxing coastal escape that combines beautiful beaches with charming Southern hospitality.
Tip: Gulf Shores and Orange Beach prides itself in being a top destination for families over Spring Break. Beaches are alcohol free from March 1st to April 28th to reduce rowdy crowds, divert large college crowds and keep their beaches kid-friendly.
